T-Mobile suspends ZTE ZMax sales, owners taking off the batt

After less than a year of being carried by T-Mobile, the ZTE Zmax phablet is no more. ZTE didn't pull out of a deal with T-Mobile but it was the mobile carrier who recently suspended its sales. It's not because no one is buying the ZTE phablet but rather people are hacking in to the phone. T-Mobile might have been pissed off at those people trying to fix the phone themselves and looks like they've had it already.

The ZTE Zmax phablet is an Un-carrier exclusive but looks like you will have to look for it somewhere else if you plan on buying one. Why, owners of the Zmax are reportedly hacking the phone, trying to remove the non-removable battery from it. No explanation as to why people are doing it but they could be doing a hard reset because of certain errors.

The back cover of the phone is only clipped on and some people are trying to be smart by using a knife or screw diver to take it off. That's not recommended because the battery cell might be destroyed or worse, people might hurt themselves. T-Mobile complained about the issue and ZTE is still studying how they can prevent owners from touching the batteries.

The ZTE phablet's back cover can be taken off easily. ZTE should have tested this part before release. T-Mobile too shouldn't have approved this in the first place if the problem is identified early on.

Racing Fever gets your blood pumping in new Android game

If you could have the chance to drive without speed limits or without consequences (legal or otherwise), would you take it? If you're any kind of driver, of course you would (or even if you don't drive IRL). So your best recourse would be to play mobile games, unless you're willing to go to jail for overspeeding. But Racing Fever will make sure that you stay out of prison, but you also get to vicariously race your heart out in this new game.

The endless driving game doesn't just get your blood pumping as you race, but it looks good and makes you look good with its 3D graphics as well as the intuitive controls. When you're racing, you get to choose from among 3 camera options so you can see everything that's happening. You can also choose to play from among four different modes: one way traffic, two way traffic, scoreless free ride, and time attack, all of which are pretty self-explanatory. You can also change your themes with the four available options.

To earn coins in this game, you need to do things that you cannot do in real life, like race at high speeds or drive your car on the wrong side of the lane (just remember that IRL, you won't get rewarded for doing that). You also get unlimited customizing options, as long as you have enough of those coins. You can change the color, vinyl, rims, and also upgrade your car model itself. You can also play in the bonus mode so that your next racing car may be for free.

You can download Racing Fever for free from the Google Play Store. There doesn't seem to be any in-app purchases available, so it looks like, it really is about you gathering enough points and coins to be able to get through this game.

Ridiculous Triathlon endless runner game is ridiculously fun

There are numerous endless runner games downloadable from the Play Store today. Thanks to Imangi Studios for introducing the Temple Run arcade game that challenges the player to run like there's no tomorrow. We've seen a number of fakes actually and similar games will only continue to be added to the Play Store. Next to capture our attention is the Ridiculous Triathlon that not only features running as the main sport but also cycling and swimming. It's a triathlon game that makes you feel that you're a sporty triathlete.

Players are required to finish the triathlon by running, swimming, and biking. Game doesn't involve just one player but rather three different characters travelling to different countries and exploring the streets of Tokyo, London, and Barcelona. The three characters you're playing can finish the triathlon by working together. Each one might have a hard time finishing but working together will make the difference.

The triathletes can play against other people. You have three characters to control that when forces are joined together, they can be victorious. You may not be in perfect form or healthy enough to run in real life but Ridiculous Triathlon can give you the joy of winning. (At least once in your life, you can say you won a triathlon.)

Ironically, this endless runner game will have you sitting for hours. No sweat and you can be a fully fledged triathlete! Congratulations! To play the game, just swipe the screen left and right. Control the bicycle using the accelerometer and swipe again to swim. You need to pick up and collect the coins and power-ups you see along the way.

Another endless runner game, you say? Yes, but it's ridiculously fun!

SlidePick lets you organize your photos in one place

While mobile devices (especially ones with great photo-taking features) have made it easier for us to document our lives and take pictures whenever we want, it has also presented us with a big problem. It is difficult to organize and arrange our photos, especially if they're scattered in different cloud services, various devices, etc. A new Android app wants to help you solve this problem, and give you an easier time and way to delete unnecessary ones, organize the ones left in albums, and share them online if you wish to.

It's a pain not just to sort through photos (especially if you take a lot!) and then to just have them in one place. SlidePick gives you the capability to do all that in "a simple and agile way", and you just need your smartphone to do it. It doesn't matter if your photos are in different devices, uploaded on different cloud services or even saved on your social media accounts. It claims that it can help you centralize all that, and with an intuitive swipe process, you can optimize when and where you can do all that organizing.

You can also create personalized albums within the app itself, choosing which photos go where just through swiping. And any photos you take with your device's camera is pre-organized into albums as well, but it also gives you the option to move, rename or delete them later on. It also has a cleaning mode that will free up space on your device. The albums are also easy to share, especially on Facebook, where you don't need to upload each photo one by one, but as an album already.

SlidePick is free to download from the Google Play Store. It's also pretty easy to use, and as the video suggests, you can do your organizing even while you're in line at the bank or while stuck in a traffic jam.

Jide brings Remix OS custom ROM to Nexus 10, Nexus 9 tablets

The last news we heard about Jide was back in January when it rolled out the 11.6-inch Remix Ultra Tablet. The mobile device is no different from any other Android-powered tablet but what's interesting is the custom version Remix OS. This particular platform provides support to run many apps on phone or full-screen modes. In phone mode, you can fit numerous apps on the screen.

To try Remix OS, you need to spend $349 to get the Remix Ultra Tablet from Kickstarter. That was the only option before since Jide has recently announced that it's opening up another pledge level. A custom ROM for Nexus 10 and Nexus 9 tablets will be available for early access. No need to spend hundreds of dollars if you can just get the Remix OS custom ROM.

Jide will still guide those who will install the ROM on the mentioned Nexus tablets. Only the Nexus 9 and Nexus 10 are allowed to run it. No other devices are supported but you know what a little bit of tweaking can do to any platform. Anyone who knows coding can easily port the ROM on other tablets but with risk, of course.

There is one thing you need to remember though. Jide may support the ROM but the company said it won't be responsible for any lost data. It's highly recommended that you backup all your data first before running the custom ROM. Jides' Remix OS ROM will be available to backers this coming May.

Skylight digital photo frame lets you send images from anywhere in the world

A new digital photo frame has turned up that makes it easy for you to send photos to it from anywhere in the world. The idea is that you can give the frame to a relative that lives somewhere far away and then send pictures to it for them so they know what you are up to.

The frame needs connection to a power source and a WiFi network. It gets its own email address and all you have to do to get the frame to show the images you take with your camera or smartphone is to email them to that address.

The photos will arrive and display within 60 seconds. If you have multiple Skylight frames, you can send images to all of them at the same time. The person you send the pictures to can heart them and you will get an email telling you they liked the photo.

Skylight is on Kickstarter seeking $30,000 and has raised a bit over $28,000 at the time of writing with 12 days to go. A pledge of $99 or more will get you a Skylight frame with shipping in August. It's worth noting that this isn't the first frame that can do this sort of thing.

This is a crowdfunded project, and as such may not deliver what its creators initially promise. Most crowdfunding sites, like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, have policies about what happens to your money if the project fails to deliver on its goals, but choosing to back a project is inevitably a risk. Android Community's reporting on crowdfunded projects should in no way be seen as an endorsement, unless specifically stated, and we recommend closely examining the terms and conditions to understand your individual rights as a backer before making a pledge.
