HTC to offer possible car integration with HTC Cello

We’re reading a Reddit thread whose author has shown what looks to be a legit HTC Release Note showing that the Taiwan-based tech company could possibly be working on a device coded at this point as the “HTC Cello”. The big thing about it is that the device could be a strong competitor to Google’s very own Android Auto, with the Cello purportedly having more features than Android Auto has.

According to the Reddit thread, the device may include features such as "Night Vision, Sonar, Mini HMI (Human Machine Interface), DVD, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Lane Departure Warning System, Navigation and GPS." If these are anywhere close to reality, then… whew! Android Auto could have itself some real competition.

The thread author also said that the device will feature a version of HTC's famous Sense UI – but of course, made specifically for cars. This will purportedly be dubbed “Sense Automotive” and should be Android Lollipop ready by the time HTC makes Cello public.

Of course, there is no easy way of confirming whether this is true or not. The big thing is that at this moment, some of the features of this device – if true – are miles ahead of any Android Auto unit. This was reportedly named “Autobot” at some point in time, and HTC has reportedly been working on Cello since the fourth quarter of last year. Will it even see the light of day, or is some sort of launch near? Watch this space.

Huawei P8 Lite gets TENAA certification

There were some rumblings early in the year about a “lite” version of the Huawei P8 – a “flagship killer” from one of China’s stronger competitors in the smartphone business. From what this new certification shows us, the Huawei P8 Lite should be unveiled at the upcoming London event of the Chinese manufacturer in April 15, if all things go well. As the name implies, we could see a smaller, toned down version of the flagship device.

The certification from TENAA – China’s FCC parallel – confirms the existence of such a device. As a bonus, they usually post pictures of devices they certify, and today we’re getting a good look at the Huawei P8 Lite. Check out the images below to get a feel for this new Huawei offering.

From what we could gather from the certification data, the Huawei P8 Lite will sport a a 5-inch HD (720p) display powered by an octa-core 1.2GHz Kirin 620 CPU. That will be supported by 2GB RAM along with 16GB of internal storage. There will be a 13MP/5MP camera combo.

The TENAA data is usually light on the specs, so we expect more data to come in soon as the launch date nears. At this point, we can say it’s a bit smaller than the rumored 5.2-inch screen of the Huawei P8. The processor is also lighter than the octa-core Kirin 930 processor of the “flagship” unit.

Steven Universe comes to your mobile device in Attack the Light

If you're a fan of the Cartoon Network animated series Steven Universe, or even if you're not, but you're looking for a fun turn-based RPG, then this new Android game should be on your TBD (to be downloaded) list. Attack of the Light is now available on Android devices and you get to enjoy an all-new storyline from the creator of the series herself and even the original voice cast have lent their voices to this simple but fun game.

If you don't know the series yet, Steven Universe is all about the titular character and his three friends named Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl. Together these four protect the planet from evil forces. Unfortunately, Steven kinda screwed up in this game's storyline and unwittingly unleashed a monster that wants to gobble up the entire world with its light creatures. So now, with the help of your fingers and your mobile device, you get to save the universe through this game.

Don't worry, you'll be equipped with all sorts of magical items, secret treasures to be discovered along the way, and each of the four characters' unique abilities and weapons. If you're lucky, you'll even get to unleash Alexandrite, a three-gem fusion that will obliterate everything in its way. This game is pretty easy to play because of its intuitive tap and swipe controls. Plus, you don't need to know much about the show to be able to understand, although it would probably be to your advantage if you knew a little about the four characters.

The game is available in several languages aside from English: Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. Steven Universe Attack the Light is available to download from the Google Play Store for just $2.99, all-in and with no IAPs available.
