HTC to offer possible car integration with HTC Cello

We’re reading a Reddit thread whose author has shown what looks to be a legit HTC Release Note showing that the Taiwan-based tech company could possibly be working on a device coded at this point as the “HTC Cello”. The big thing about it is that the device could be a strong competitor to Google’s very own Android Auto, with the Cello purportedly having more features than Android Auto has.

According to the Reddit thread, the device may include features such as "Night Vision, Sonar, Mini HMI (Human Machine Interface), DVD, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Lane Departure Warning System, Navigation and GPS." If these are anywhere close to reality, then… whew! Android Auto could have itself some real competition.

The thread author also said that the device will feature a version of HTC's famous Sense UI – but of course, made specifically for cars. This will purportedly be dubbed “Sense Automotive” and should be Android Lollipop ready by the time HTC makes Cello public.

Of course, there is no easy way of confirming whether this is true or not. The big thing is that at this moment, some of the features of this device – if true – are miles ahead of any Android Auto unit. This was reportedly named “Autobot” at some point in time, and HTC has reportedly been working on Cello since the fourth quarter of last year. Will it even see the light of day, or is some sort of launch near? Watch this space.
