As of late, many developers are facing suspension of their apps due to reinforced branding guidelines. Google aims to clear the air with it’s update to the support page on the topic, which clearly outlines the correct naming method and covers other areas like keyword spam.

ExoDrive Case brings additional microSD card slot expansion

We just featured the Ampere Smartphone Sleeve, a special sleeve that can charge your device. The project is currently on KickStarter aiming to reinvent the mobile charging experience. Here is another project on the crowdfunding site that brings more functionality to the smartphone: the ExoDrive Case. It's a smartphone concept that offers microSD card expansion for extra storage.

The ExoDrive is a sleek protective phone case that brings an extra microSD card for storage expansion. Sure, most smartphones in the market today have microSD card slots but this case brings additional storage. No need to worry about the phone running out of memory because you can always transfer your files to the ExoDrive Case.

The ExoDrive Case is available for the following devices: Motorola Moto G, HTC One (M8), Google Nexus 6, Motorola Moto X, Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G2, HTC One (M7), Google Nexus 5, OnePlus One, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. Prototypes were 3D-printed but its designer, Bhadrajee Dahanayake, promised that production models will be slimmer and won't have joints and rough lines from 3D printing.

Fund goal is $10,000 but campaign already has 112 backers giving a total of $3,460 AUD. With still 28 days to go before the deadline, I don't doubt its designer will get all the pledge. Exo-Drive cases will be available in White, Grey, Black, and milled aluminum as a Kickstarter exclusive reward.

Magzter intros unlimited monthly access to digital magazines

We don't often talk about digital newsstands and magazine stores because there are too many out there. However, Magzter, one of the more popular ones today recently rolled out a new promo that offers unlimited access to subscribers willing to pay $9.99 every month. Magzter's All-You-Can-Read subscription deal brings the more than 24 million users access to the biggest collection of digital magazines available for all platforms from mobile to tablet and to the web.

Magzter currently has 2,000 titles on the library including top magazines like ESPN The Magazine, Fast Company, and Maxim. The most popular magazines from different countries like Singapore, India, and the UK are also included in the library. Magzter has promised to add more titles this 2015.

Digital magazine reading is still in its early stage. More people have yet to adopt digital reading and magazine subscriptions but the potential for this trend is really big. With the proliferation of smartphones, tablets, and ultrabooks, reading on different platforms is now more accessible and made easier. Instant access to digital materials and media files is what people usually demand and with Magzter's latest promo, no doubt demand will increase especially with an affordable monthly fee.

Magzter Gold features numerous content categories. The current bestsellers, most popular titles, classics, special interests and hobbies, and even niche publications are all available in the library. Magzter has designed a great user interface for better content discovery. It can learn the preferences of the individual based on the interactions and interests, made possible by algorithms within. The new Magzter interface also allows a user to download multiple titles faster and at the same time. This allows faster content discovery and improving "speed-to-read" times.

If the $9.99 monthly fee is too much for you, you can avail of the Magzter Gold Lite for only $4.99 per month. This deal gives unlimited access to only five titles every month but you can change your choices of titles at the end of each month.

MultiROM now available for Sony Xperia devices

We've talked about MultiROM a few times already here. Anyone who fancies running versions of Android KitKat, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jelly Bean all from the same device can now see that dream come true. Sony Xperia devices are the latest ones to enjoy MultiROM multi-boot goodness with the new MultiROM v30x mod.

The MultiROM v30x appears to support a number of Sony Xperia devices including the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, and the Xperia ZL models. So if you've thought about running multiple ROMs on your Xperia device -- heck even an Ubuntu Touch firmware or any other Linux-based system -- now is your time to shine. A built-in boot manager appears upon startup and gives you the power to choose which systems to run for your device at a particular time. Installing and managing ROMs is done through the built-in MultiROM manager app.

Probably the only thing that would limit your device from enjoying the multiboot advantages of MultiROM is your device’s storage limit. You can have as many ROMs as you can possibly fit into your smartphone’s external memory card. Another limitation is that MultiROM, at present, will not work with data encryption, but that shouldn’t be a significant concern to you unless you’re absolutely serious about your device’s data security.

There is always a concern when tweaking your phone like this, understand that most smartphones were created without any notion of multi-booting, and tweaking them this way can easily turn into one big epic fail. Like any custom hack -- and this is a major one -- it is always a good idea to back up data in your device so that you don’t end up with a particularly expensive block of worthless electronics. D-Link puts out a micro-USB TV Tuner for Android

If you don’t live in Japan or in South Korea – where embedded TV services on smartphones is the norm – there is still not an easy way to get free TV reception on your Android device when you’re on-the-go. Apart from a few of the smaller Android device manufacturers in Southeast Asia, TV reception is still not a main feature of Android smartphones. For that purpose, D-Link has released the DWM-T100 micro-USB TV tuner.

It does exactly what its name sounds like – it gives your Android device TV reception (with a companion app) via the micro-USB port of your Android device. Officially, the device is a dongle that allows for live Digital TV (DVB-T) on your Android device anywhere you go, as long as there is a TV Signal.

The dongle comes with a loop antenna which allows the users to move around. For serious TV time – like if you want to catch that football game and there is just no TV around, there is an F-Type antenna converter to hook up to the existing antenna that you have.

Pretty cool, huh? If you’re looking to get one, this is being sold in Australia at USD$41.00. Hopefully D-link will start to offer this TV tuner dongle in other markets as well.
