Sony “Lens G” QX100 price revealed in latest leak

Details of the Sony QX10 and QX100 have slowly been leaking. Leaks have included some basics on both models and we have even seen the user manual leak. These are basically a clip-on lens that will work with a smartphone or tablet and as we had seen from the leaked manual, the QX100 will be the higher-end of the two models.

With that in mind, it looks like this latest leak deals with the pricing. Specifically, the price of the QX100. The details are coming by way of the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors where they have deemed this a rumor from known sources. According to the details shared, the Sony QX100 will arrived priced around $450.

Other details here come by way of ePrice who have shown the QX100 at 370 EUR, which is a little less than $500 in terms of US dollars. Furthermore, the ePrice listing also brings mention of the QX10, which they have listed at 170 EUR. The US dollar translation for that one would roughly $225. Either way, both models seem like something that will be aimed more at the photographer as opposed to the casual user looking to grab some better shots.

That being said, this setup could have some advantages in that it pairs with a device you currently own and use. Not to mention, camera models with a similar setup are generally priced higher than what we are seeing with the QX100. Of course, while these prices seem to be the real deal we do have to remember that noting is official until we hear it direct from Sony.

And with that, Sony is expected to announce the QX10 and QX100 (amongst other items) at a press event in Berlin. This event will take place on September 4, which is just ahead of IFA 2013. As a reminder, we will be live on-site to bring the latest news coming out of the show.

Nexus 7 LTE UK release date confirmed by O2

We recently learned the Nexus 7 LTE would be heading to Japan in mid-September and as of today it looks like a date has been announced for those in the UK. The UK details come by way of O2 who have revealed a release date as well as the price. Without any further adieu, O2 expects to have the Nexus 7 LTE (4G) available on September 13.

The price is set at £319.99, which is a bit higher than may have been expected. Google originally said the US pricing for the LTE compatible Nexus 7 would be $349 and as we see, the UK price would be just shy of $500 in terms of US dollars. The tablet will be available for pre-order beginning on Thursday August 29th.

O2 also mentioned the 4G version would be exclusive to them “at launch” and that they are offering a free case for those who pre-order the tablet. They have yet to share the details on the case and have instead referred to it as a “free premium case worth £29.99.”

Touching back on the exclusivity, the tablet should work with other carriers, however it seems it will only be available through O2. Aside from the 4G LTE model, O2 has also said the WiFi only model would be available soon. From the looks of it, they will only have the 32GB Nexus 7 model available. That one will arrive priced at £249.99.

Between the Nexus 7 LTE news coming out of Japan and now out of the UK it looks like Google is gearing up for a global release fairly soon. We have yet to see anything for those in the US, but it is looking like that release will happen by mid-September at the latest.

HTC One in Blue spotted sitting side-by-side with a One Mini

There is no shortage of leaked HTC One Max images and the way things look we may soon be able to say the same thing about the blue HTC One. These leaks aren’t that frequent just yet, however another has come available today. This latest is offering a clear look at the blue HTC One sitting side-by-side with the HTC One Mini and Mini.

The coloring of the handset appears to match the previously leaked images and nicely, this one is complete. That incomplete reference goes back to the image we saw leaked out of China earlier in the week. That one was showing the handset without the display in place.

We have also seen another image of the HTC One in blue from eTradeSupply and another that appeared to be an in-the-wild style capture. Nothing has been said just yet, however it is looking like this sudden increase in blue HTC One leaks suggests that an announcement may be coming soon. Given the time of year we naturally look towards IFA for that.

Otherwise, earlier rumors have suggested that Verizon would be the carrier to offer the blue HTC One. Specifically, that Verizon would be an exclusive carrier for the blue HTC One. But with that in mind, we have yet to hear anything official from either HTC or Verizon which once again has us looking towards IFA for the announcement.

Action Launcher update brings a “wealth” of optimizations and improvements

Action Launcher has recently been updated and while this one may not be considered a huge update by everyone, it did provide some worthwhile new features, changes and improvements. To begin with, those using Action Launcher will now be able to hide the notification bar. This option is hidden away in the Labs section, which does mean it is still considered experimental.

That aside, this can be found by navigating to the Action Launcher settings and tapping the Labs section. Once here just uncheck the box next to Show Notification Bar and it will disappear from view. And just to clarify things here, it was said that this means that you will no longer be able to access the bar by swiping down from the top of the screen.

Another notable change here comes in with the app icons. A long press on any icon previously offered options for info and the shutter, however as of today you will see a third listed as “change icon.” Tapping that will then allow you to change the icon to default, select something from the gallery or to pick one from an icon pack. Simply put, you now have plenty of options when it comes to customizing individual app icons.

Some of the other items included on the changelog mention how the base code was updated from Android 4.1 to Android 4.3 and how the dimensions of the Home screen pages are now calculated dynamically. This basically means the app should display properly on device of all screen sizes. Action Launcher users now also have the option to import layouts from Trebuchet (CyanogenMod).

There was also mention of how boot times have been “massively improved” and how the lag that many saw when returning to Action Launcher from another app was experiencing has been reduced. Bottom line here, no new earth shattering features were included with this update, but it does seem like one that is worth grabbing sooner rather than later. As always, the latest build of Action Launcher can be found by way of the Google Play Store.
