Unless you have the brand new Samsung Galaxy S6, which boasts of its HDR and OIS capabilities , then taking pictures in low-light situations is almost always a pain. Your only option is to use another phone's flash as your light source or to just retouch the photo through filters or even Photoshop afterwards. A new Kickstarter project wants to help you get rid of that problem by providing you with a light source for all your mobile photo needs.
The (unfortunately named, but maybe intentionally named) Flasher functions as a pocket spotlight that you can attach to any smartphone or tablet that you're using, or simply hold it up as a separate device when taking a picture. It has a beam angle of 75 degrees and you can use it for either front or rear cameras since it can be turned around 360 degrees. You don't need to use any batteries since the tiny gadget is rechargeable. And in case you think you'll go blind eventually if you use this all the time, don't worry, it doesn't have that flash effect that will cause you to blink or squint when taking the picture.
You also don't need any software to install Flasher (okay, we can't stop giggling when we say the name) to be able to use it. It's compatible with any smartphone or tablet that has an audio jack because that's where you attach it. Or you can just hold it on your other hand when taking the picture. And it also comes in handy for non-photography situations as you can use it as an honest-to-goodness flashlight.
It looks like they're still a long way from their goal of $15,000 but there are still 50 days left in their Kickstarter campaign. If you feel like this is a product that you absolutely must have (especially if you take a lot of photos in the dark), then you can pledge as low as $15 to be one of the first to have this device. Maybe you can also suggest that they change the product's name? (just kidding. or maybe not.)
