As the rumored launch date of Samsung’s upcoming flagship phone – the Samsung Galaxy S6 – draws ever nearer, we are flooded by a lot of rumors and news items regarding the elusive smartphone. An actual model has not been seen in the wild, and would most likely remain hidden until it is unveiled at MWC 2015 in Barcelona a month from now.
What we do have are these seeming confirmations – first by a shipping manifest document gathered by Zauba and is making the rounds in the tech sphere. The records point to two separate times when items coded as Samsung smartphones with model codes SM-G920V and SM-G920F were shipped to India. As you may not know, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will purportedly carry the SM-G920 model code. What is confirmed in the manifests is the 5-inch screen that the Galaxy S6 will be rumored to have. We’re left with other rumors to fill in the gaps – possibly a Quad HD 2560x1440 Super AMOLED screen. The declared price of the device is around USD$405, so we should expect it to retail at around USD$600-650.
Another rumor coming from notable French tech blog nowhereelse.fr is the rumored dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S6, coming from a leak of a schematic rumored to be the Galaxy S6. The phone in the schematic has these numbers – 143.52mm in length, 70.70mm wide, and a thickness of 7.19mm. If this is indeed the Galaxy S6, it would be slightly slimmer than its predecessor, the Galaxy S5, at 8.1mm.
One month to go before we all see this come to reality, unless Samsung suddenly backs out on its MWC 2015 date. We assume that more and more details will come out in the next few weeks, so watch this space.
