AnTuTu reveals top 10 most performant smartphones of 3Q 2013

The past quarter has seen a flurry of new smartphone announcements that has surely made buyers quite undecided on which device to buy. If one wants to make a decision based purely on raw performance, then AnTuTu‘s top 10 list might help make that just a tad easier.

AnTuTu’s list took smartphones that have been released from June to September this year and ranked them simply based on their benchmark scores. This list covers a wide range of smartphones released all over the world, running on different processors or processor generations. The results are somewhat unsurprising, but also a bit interesting.

The top of the list is dominated by smartphones running on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip, with Samsung‘s most recent high-end smartphone, the Galaxy Note 3, taking the lead. Sony is not far behind with two almost equal entries, the Xperia Z Ultra and the more recent Xperia Z1. The LG G2 sits at the middle, beaten by the Xiaomi MI3 and the Pantech Vega. At the lower end of the spectrum lies the Snapdragon 600-powered smartphones like the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S 4. It’s quite interesting to note how Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has climbed up into prominence, taking up two spots in the list. Curiously, the Motorola Moto X, which touts a unique X8 Computing System, is nowhere to be found.

AnTuTu notes that its basis for the rankings are purely based on the scores coming from users using its benchmarking tools, with no preference to any device or manufacturer. Users will make decisions based on other factors as well, like features or market availability, but the list could at least give them an idea of what to expect.
