Now that we’re over the MWC 2015 chaos, maybe it’s time to put our attention to the devices that will be coming up within the year, more specifically, Sony’s new flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4. There was a crazy rumor that it was going to be unveiled in January – so soon after the launch of the Xperia Z3 – but that proved false. In fact, it didn’t launch as expected at the MWC as well.
We might be seeing the real thing by May or June this year, but leaks like these will have to suffice for now. This new leak claims that it is showing in these pics the front and side housing of the new Sony Xperia Z4. The biggest thing about this leak? There will be no major redesign that will happen coming from the design aesthetic of the Xperia Z3.
The minor differences include moving the hole for the ambient noise microphone away from the 3.5mm audio jack. There is an obvious lack of a microSD slot, only a SIM sot is obvious with these pics. It might be that Sony is going for those hybrid SIM/microSD slots, or there might not be a slot at all. Or this might not be the final case, even.
Lastly, the micro USB charging port has been moved to the bottom instead of the bottom left side for the Z3. The big (ish) issue? Well, there seems to be no cover for the USB port, leading to questions of Sony still going for a water-resistant feature. It would seem out of character for them to throw that feature away, which has been one of the trademarks of a premium Xperia product. So it will be interesting to see if this new casing is the real deal. Watch this space.
