Com2uS Dragon Knights: RPG in name, dungeon crawler in deed

Mobile gaming, for all its benefits and strengths, has somewhat diluted the definition of the RPG genre lately. What was once a class of games with rather clear borders have started bleeding into the description of any game that involves a crew of characters with sword and magic. This new Dragon Knights game from Com2uS is one such game that masquerades as an RPG but really comes closer to a dungeon crawler. That said, RPG or not, that doesn't mean that this game can't be fun.

In essence, Dragon Knights is a turn-based dungeon crawler, albeit one that has a backstory, no matter how flimsy or thin it may be. The basics are the same: go through dungeons to fight monsters and save the world from the devil horde. To do so, you will have to build up your motley crew from an assortment of available heroes. Though there are indeed many characters to choose from, they do fall under one of four classes, which lends to the RPG-like feel of the game. Oh, and you do get pets to summon and help you in your battles.

The game plays over in both single player and multiplayer modes. The multi player gameplay comes via cooperative boss raids and boss battles. There's also a PvP arena to test your team's mettle. Like majority of mobile games, the game has a ladderized progression system where each new distinct level is unlocked by finishing the ones before it. You enter a dungeon and the battle commences. There is very little in terms of exploration that you might find in conventional RPGs. The graphics of the game are very basic, with miniaturized 3D models set on a flattened 3D background.

The game is free to play and, of course, holds in-app purchases for a quick fix. Hit the video below for the game's rather cheesy trailer.
