NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet, Portable spread some holiday cheer

Of course, you saw it coming. This weekend will see yet another flood of sales and promotions to entice buyers to hand over their cash. And with the growing number of devices in the market today, many of those will undoubtedly be spent on electronics and games. Not to be outdone, NVIDIA will be offering bundles of its SHIELD gaming crew with huge discounts. But take heed, as these rare creatures will only appear for little less than a day.

Mobile gamers might be aware of the rather big splash that NVIDIA made the past two weeks when it announced not just Android 5.0 Lollipop for the SHIELD Tablet but also its GRID on-demand game streaming service. That is exactly what you will be getting when you buy the gaming-oriented tablet on Black Friday. Of course you will be getting more, like a free SHIELD controller and a bundle of NVIDIA's Green Box games, which include Half-Life 2, Portal, and Half-Life 2: Episode One, all for free. And NVIDIA GRID service free until June 30, 2015.

The offer for the SHIELD Portable is less glamorous but still probably a bit interesting. You won't get the Green Box games or a SHIELD Controller, because that will be redundant. Instead, you will be offered a carrying case and a glossy black armor to protect your investment. Of course, Portable owners will also get their hands on GRID for free until June 30 next year.

Do take note that the offer for the SHIELD Tablet only applies to the 32 GB LTE model. For a value of $488 in total, this particular bundle will only sell for $399. For the SHIELD Portable, the price is $199 instead of $258 for everything that's included. The deal will only be in effect on November 28 from 12:01 AM PST to 11:59 PM PST. Those considering getting either, or even both, of these might want to make up their minds real quick. If Samsung has its way in court, NVIDIA's devices might be banned from the US market for some time.
