Android 5.0 build leaked for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3

More and more people are getting themselves excited for their smartphones and tablets to be upgraded to Android 5.0 by their manufacturers, and Samsung users are not exempt from the hype. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – last year’s flagship phablet – is scheduled to get a bump to Lollipop, but lo and behold, here we have a Lollipop build leaked for the device.

The build leaked at XDA developers forum is for the Galaxy Note 3 SM-9005 model and weighs in at a hefty 1.1GB. The build is taken from the “N9505XXUGBNL8” software bundle. The build hasn’t gone live yet, and is probably not official, but most of the features work – all the Android 5.0 experience and a re-built Touchwiz – this late into Samsung’s software development process.

The update should be pretty straightforward for those who know how to flash with Odin software, a common tool for those who like tweaking their devices. We will again remind you that flashing your device with the new software build will delete the data partitions of your device – so it is important for you to make a backup of your device and data before you go through with it.

The update will cause your to start up longer during the first boot process, so do not panic if starting up after the flash process will take longer. If you are interested in this build, check out the official forum thread here via XDA.

Code Black mini Drone sneaks into pre-order [DEALS]

Ever fancied yourself to be a drone guy or gal but never really had the stomach for a more complex, not to mention more expensive, professional drone? If so, then Android Community Deals may very well make your dreams come true. The Code Black Drone, which comes with an HD camera of its own, is small enough to fit on the palm of your hand. And it has a price tag to match as well, making it a perfect starting kit for those planning to break into the drone scene.

How small is small? This drone only reaches a dimension of 3.25 in x 3.25 in. If that's a bit hard to picture, imagine that the drone is just as big, or rather small, as the dedicated controller that comes with it. Given that size, charging up the drone's 380 mAh battery is no big deal, though it can take up to 30 to 40 minutes at most. You can even charge it via your computer's USB port. The controller, on the other hand, runs on four AAA batteries.

That said, the Code Black drone does fly only for around 10 minutes non-stop, which isn't exactly hardcore by drone standards. But for beginners, that may just be enough to have some fun and mayhem. Plus, it comes with its own 2.0 megapixel camera that can record 720p HD videos onto a microSD card. It's one complete set in a tiny package.

The Code Black Drone normally costs $199, but here at Android Community Deals, it's going for a pre-order offer of $89. That's 55% off the normal price. However, that's only for US buyers. International buyers will have to fork over $99 instead, which still isn't that much compared to the regular price.

Humble Bundle adds 4 more games from Noodlecake Studios

Just before Christmas, Humble Bundle presented nine more games from Noodlecake Studios. And before 2014 ends, four new games have been added to the same bundle. This means the good deal we previously described is now a better deal but others may think of it as the best deal yet until the offer ends on January 5. To date, 16,863 bundles have been sold exclusively to Android gamers.

What's so good about the Humble Bundle is that you can pay for whatever you want. You can even choose to support a charity or the developers who have painstakingly yet lovingly made those games. The Humble Bundle is available for $6.50 but if you want to get more games, you need to pay $8. So what are the four new games added? Flappy Golf (Premium), Boxcat, Mage Gauntlet, and The Blocks Cometh.

With the addition of new games from Noodlecake Studios, the Humble Bundle is more attractive than ever we're not doubting the almost 17k downloads will increase overnight. Feel free to get the following games as part of the bundle as well: Polymer, Glorkian Warrior: The Trials of Glork, Super Stickman Golf 2 Premium, Pumped BMX 2, Devious Dungeon Premium, Tower Dwellers, and Mikey Boots.

With the multitude of choices for F2P games out there, this app better bring it’s a game to make it big over Android.

The Castaway series of games have been mildly popular for iPad users in a sort of “fun-but-expensive” way. The arrival of a free-to-play version seems a very wise move as they move towards the Android market. Vaio working on Android handsets, to compete with former parent Sony

Sony's very own Vaio laptop unit will soon be a rival of the mother company as the latter will join the mobile industry and introduce smartphones. This means Sony and Vaio will be competing in the same arena. The former laptop brand of the Japanese manufacturer is currently working with mobile carrier Japan Communications to offer its first smartphone in the country early in 2015. As the two brands go head to head, we'll see who is the best in making Android phones.

Sony still has a 5 percent stake in Vaio. The parent company sold majority of the Vaio shares back in July to an investment fund. This is part of Sony's efforts to restructure and rebuild its electronics business. But in a weird twist of fate, it's being challenged as Vaio recently designed a 5-inch Android phone.

The Vaio Android phone will run an app that can manage emails, and phone and video calls. No mention on who will be manufacturing the phone but it will be outsourced to several electronic manufacturing companies according to Vaio. Vaio and Japan Communications hope this will be a success especially that its pricing will be lower than Sony and other major brands. Vaio's phone won't be in the low-priced category though but it will be affordable.

The yet-to-be-named and yet-to-be-priced handset will be sold through e-commerce sites, information system developers, electronics retailers, and other sales channels of Japan Communications. Vaio may be late to join the smartphone bandwagon but the company believes it will be able to capture a percentage of the market with handsets that are affordable yet boast of superior design and impressive specs. We'll see how Vaio will fare in the mobile industry. Will it ever beat Sony? What do you think?

Samsung Galaxy Grand Max to be launched in Korea

Courtesy of the Samsung-specific Sam Mobile website, we are getting our first look at a very new Samsung Galaxy Grand Max – a phablet that will be launched in Korea, with no news yet if the gadget maker is bringing the said device to the international market.

The Galaxy Grand Max – code numbered the SM-G720N0 – will have a 5.2-inch HD display (720p), powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal storage. The device will be thin for a phablet, that is, 7.9mm thin and will have a 13MP/ 5MP camera combo. Even with Android Lollipop out, this device will unfortunately come with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed, with no information if a Lollipop update is forthcoming, but it should be.

The Galaxy Grand Max will have 2,500mAh battery, and this particular model will have LTE connectivity. We see this device in the pics together with the Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, both heavily covered by our reports before.

Is this something that would help the Samsung cause, re-building what was once a dominant lead in the smartphone industry? The device is obviously not a flagship level device, but is firmly targeted at the mid-tier market. Time will tell.
