Candy Shop Helps You Change the Look of Many Screen Elements with ZipThemer

nugebe6a

Theming is one of the most interesting aspects of Android. Modifying the look of various UI elements often leads to as noticeable of an impact as getting new features. There are lots of ways to modify the look of your screen, but what to do when you want to modify only one element?

There is an app in the Play Store called ZipThemer. Basically this tool allows you to add some custom UI elements to your favorite custom ROM’s update.zip file. XDA Recognized Contributor matthew0776 gathered tons of interesting mods together and called it a Candy Shop, and it is indeed full of sweetness. The current set is intended for use with the Nexus 4. But with a little modification, it can be used with almost any device. Currently the lock ring, glow dots, lock pattern, search light and soft keys can be modified. The number of mods is impressive, and I’m sure everybody will find something interesting. For those of you who are less familiar with ZipThemer, an instructional video can also be found in the original thread.

Android World Multitool Helps You with Common Android Tasks

oDhMU

Performing some of the basic tasks on Android device is easy but also time consuming. For example, if you want to install an application through adb, you need to type adb install and a full name of the APK. Of course, you need to have a working ADB to even think of adding something.

There are some tools that make things easier and faster. One such tool is Android World Multitool, created by XDA Forum Member youssef badr. This Windows-only tool can perform the most common operations like installing an application, flashing a boot animation, and rebooting your device. It even supports unrooting and backup/restore.

As an added bonus, some Samsung-only actions are present as well. For example, it’s possible to enter the download mode or reboot straight to the recovery. It’s an initial release, so many things are yet to be added, but this tool can be considered as a good solution for people with less experience in Android or with limited time to do something.

Head over to the development thread to grab the newest version of this tool and give it a try.

Animate Your Images with Xperia Z1 Motiongraph Port

MG

A few days ago, we brought you news of a port of the Sony Xperia Z1-exclusive Motionshot app to all devices running Android 4.0 and up. It’s a pretty neat app that essentially generates a still image of a short video. But it seems like Motionshot isn’t the only app the Xperia Z1 has to share with the rest of the Android world, as Motiongraph will also be joining the list.

Ported by XDA Forum Member xperiaz2 who also ported Motionshot, Motiongraph works with any Android 4.0 or newer device, irrespective of OEM or ROM. And much like Motionshot, Motiongraph is another novelty imaging app by Sony.

Motiongraph allows users to create an image, where selected parts are animated, and then the image is saved as a GIF. The procedure is simple. First, capture a 2 second video within the app. Once done, the app allows you to select areas of the video that you want to be animated with swipes and taps. A host of other settings are also available to enhance and control your image, such as camera focus, image stabilization, and adjustment of playback speed and smoothness.

If you would like to give Motiongraph a shot, visit the original thread for more details and download.
