Samsung is expanding its wings for non-Samsung users, at least in terms of its music streaming service Milk Music. If before only selected devices from the OEM are the only ones who can enjoy Milk Music, now everyone who wants to can also share in the fun as the web version is now available. You can either stick to the free use or you can sign up for a subscription, if you're that impressed with the music streaming service.
Milk Music has been around for a few months now, but you might not have heard of it because it was exclusively for Samsung Galaxy owners only. Now that it's available on the web and if you're looking for an alternative to the music services you're already using like Spotify, Pandora, etc, you might want to check it out. It has a simple interface that shows the album artwork in the background and the navigation keys are at the lower part of the screen. If you want to know more about the artist, you can click on the i button.
Just like other music streaming services, you can listen to different stations, depending on your mood or the artist/genre that you want to listen to at the moment. If you think a song doesn't belong to the station, you can remove it or transfer it to another station. You can also create a station based on just one song. If you don't want to have explicit content on your stations, you can toggle it off (and then back on if you're in the mood). You can also favorite songs so you can hear them more often.
The free service comes of course, with advertisements and only allows you to skip up to 6 songs per session. If you want an ad-free, limitless skipping, and the ability to listen to music offline, you can subscribe to Milk Music for $3.99 per month. However, this only applies to the web version. The mobile app is still only available for Samsung Galaxy owners. Will they open this up to other OEMs someday? Let's wait and see.
