The first half of 2015 is expected to bring out a lot of new gadgets from OEMs, particularly large tablets from Samsung and Apple, if reports are to be believed. Another rumored new tablet to come out will be from Sony, and it will become their largest one so far. It is believed that the new device has already gone into production in order to come out the same time as the other rumored tablets.
But don't expect for Sony's new tablet to be as affordable (well, relatively) as their previous Xperia ones. Rumors say that the 12.9-inch device will be for the high-end market, as it is also being produced by Pegatron, which also produces Apple's iPad and Microsoft's Surface tablets. If reports are to be believed, it will come with a 3840 x 2400 resolution and will be run by a Qualcomm processor. The camera will be 8 megapixels and in terms of thickness (or thinness), it will be 8.6mm.
While Sony has stopped producing computers, they are very much on track with their tablet line (as well as their smartphones) with such products as the Xperia Tablet Z2, which they say is the slimmest waterproof tablet at 6.4 mm and 426 grams. The upcoming bigger tablet is said to already be going into production, with the related components at the ready.
The new tablet would probably go up against Samsung's already existing 12-inch tablet and Apple's upcoming 12-inch "iPad Pro" tablet. signaling the trend of bigger tablets that might just impact the whole notebook/netbook market. The Sony tablet is expected to be priced at around or more than $1,000.
