Race Against Ghosts on the Sony Smartwatch

ghostracer

When you exercise, it’s natural to aim to improve upon what you achieved the previous time performing that activity. That’s the very reason why we keep pushing ourselves through the last few minutes or reps, as well as why it feels so good when we do manage to push through. The great thing about having a smartwatch on your wrist is that it can also help you achieve your goals. Ghostracer for the Sony Smartwatch is no exception to this.

Developed by XDA Forum Member cjkiller, Ghostracer is an app for the Sony Smartwatch 2 that lets you train against ‘ghosts’ during your run or ride. It allows you to race against either Strava segments or GPX files, and makes use of the GPS to track your current progress and provides live feedback with audio updates of your times and distance. Furthermore, in order to help you continue in the correct direction, Ghostracer displays segments and routes on Google Maps.

Although only the Sony Smartwatch 2 is fully supported right now, support for the Smartwatch 3 is currently in beta. So if you’re interested in checking out the app or participating in beta testing, visit the Ghostracer application thread for more details.
