HTC One (M7) GPe Gets Lollipop, OTA Captured

Android Lollipop still has a very low market share, with less than 0.1% of the overall Android devices connected to Google Play services. This number will soon change, as some devices are getting official updates from their manufacturers.

Just two days ago, the Samsung Galaxy S5 received an Android 5.0.1 update in Poland. We didn’t have to wait long for the HTC’s response. The Taiwanese OEM started to push the Lollipop update for the Google Play edition of the HTC One (M7). The OTA update is 511 MB, and of course, it doesn’t contain the Sense.

To proceed with the update process, your device needs to have an Android 4.4.4 installed. Stock recovery is also required. The provided OTA will not work on devices with modified /system partition or converted from the regular HTC One. Thanks to XDA Senior Member ziaulh.ch who made a NAND backup, the derived update can be applied through the TWRP recovery.

If you’re using the HTC One (M7) and can’t wait for Lollipop to land onto your device, head over to this post by XDA Senior Member Daman09 who managed to capture the link to OTA available on Google servers in this post.
