Wearhaus Arc brings social back to music listening

While headphones serve their purpose when you want to drown out the annoying people around you or you just want to go off into your own musical world alone, there are some things lost by plugging into one and plugging out of your environment. One of these things lost is sharing music with friends and loved ones. A new headset trying to get crowdfunded wants to bring that social aspect back to music listening, even as you will have your own device on your head and in your ears.

Wearhaus Arc separates itself from other headphones by being more social, while at the same time maintaining the sound quality you would expect from this kind of wearable. The developers say that they are the first kind that can let you wirelessly sync up what you're listening to with your friends, even while you're all plugged into your individual headphones. This is made possible through a mesh networking protocol aside from the Bluetooth audio profile that is standard for wireless headsets. So far, it works with up to 6 people wearing the headphones with a range of 65 feet indoors and 100 feet when outdoors.

Aside from sharing music with your friends, the Wearhaus Arc also boasts of customizable LED light rings which will make your headsets look cooler. And if you're broadcasting what you're listening to, then they can match up to your station by syncing to your color. Another great thing the headphone can boast of is its touch-sensitive panel on the right earcup that lets you easily control playback, without having to take out your smartphone or music player.

The Kickstarter project has already reached its funding goal of $50,000 with 25 days still to go in their campaign. If you want to get the Wearhaus Arc itself, along with other minor freebies, you need to pledge by $159 and more. The estimated shipping date for the headphones is by January 2015.
